UK high street retailer Jigsaw is to close 12 of its Australian stores by the end of March.

The fashion giant is to shutter operations in Queensland, reducing its portfolio to just five stores in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, and South Australia, which will be directly managed from London.

“From now on, we will be one global fashion brand,” a statement on Jigsaw’s website said. An employee told The Courier Mail the Australian arm had hit “financial troubles” before the closures, with only the top-performers expected to remain.

Jigsaw is expected to launch a revamped website in April with a full collection from the UK, including menswear, childrenswear and home.
