Salvatore Ferragamo SpA has confirmed they are in talks with Eraldo Poletto regarding him becoming their new chief executive officer. The process of him taking on the role will be discussed at a board meeting on May 12.

The Florence-based company revealed the development after the end of trading in Milan, where they are publicly listed.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Poletto was leaving his role as chief executive officer of Furla effective at the end of June. This added to the speculation that he was leaving to head Ferragamo as it was recently announced that current ceo Michele Norsa would be exiting the company at the end of the year for personal reasons.

Poletto would be a smart addition to the company as his experience is mostly with accessories, which remains a core part of Ferragamo's business. Ferragamo is publicly listed, but the namesake family is still involved.

Poletto joined Furla in June 2010. Previously, he was president of strategic development at and international alliance worldwide at Retail Brand Alliance Inc., the parent company of Brooks Brothers. He was also a member of the executive team and board, president of Brooks Brothers International Inc., and director of boards of Brooks Brothers Japan, U.K., and Europe. Poletto briefly exited Furla in November 2012 to be ceo of Alfred Dunhill, but returned to the latter mentioned company in spring 2013.
