This week, FashionUnited readers get an exclusive insight into three influential Pre Fall trend directions that will be key for Fall/Winter 2017-18. Navy Sateen is an essential edition to the core palette that lends a new sophistication to core classics. The retro geos of Retro Remix and the revised placements of Cut Up Blockings illustrate the bold print looks coming through for Fall. For apparel, silhouettes borrow from the boys with man-tailored constructions and exaggerated proportions offering a relaxed gender-neutral alternative to classic womenswear.

Navy Sateen

Classic navy shades are given added depth with dark inky casts. The saturated density of midnight blues lends a feeling of refinement to Fall apparel. Over-dyed finishes offer a smarter take on utility cottons while single colour-ways, self trims and subtle sheen finishes enhance the colour intensity for eveningwear.

Retro Remix

Pattern and print embraces a retro vibe with bold head-to-toe graphics. A contemporary colour-palette, contrast surface finishes and reassembled motifs modernise vintage inspirations. Geometric shapes and zigzag stripes play with scale and placement. Exploded prints, horizontal and vertical lines are applied to elegant day dresses.

Cut Up Blockings

Colour-blocking is reinvented for Fall as classic placements are cut up and reassembled to follow the contours of the body. A bold palette is refined through the use of complimentary yet directional shades while strict geometric panelling and reworked stripings create a structural statement effect.

The Agender Silhouette

Gender lines become blurred for Fall as womenswear takes inspiration from the menswear rails. Masculine silhouettes, boxy shapes and relaxed voluminous fits redefine the female form. Traditional tailoring, monochrome colours and shirting or suiting textures enhance the minimalist qualities of mannish aesthetics.
