This week, FashionUnited readers are presented with a new development spotted at the Spring/Summer 2016 edition of Premiere Vision Paris (aka PV), the world's leading fabric trade show. A range of directional materials emerged at the fair this season, updating textures like Jersey, Knitwear, Technical and Delicates with a tactile twist. Bubbled & Rippled is a key Wovens trend for S/S 2016, as seen in collections by mills like Hokkoh and Intesa.

Bubbled & Rippled

Spring/Summer 2016 jacquards are revamped with a play on print, as bubbled textures raise patterns from the surface. Springtime florals create a sweet, naïve look, complete with minimal detailing. The Bubbled Florals trend demonstrates an extreme take on woven fabrics, with flower outlines formed using the material itself.

In contrast to Bubbled Florals, this trend sees a more subtle approach to textural wovens, on show at PV with rippled surfaces instead of print. The same technique is applied, using a more discreet direction. S/S 16 materials appeal to the touch with a scattered surface of ripples, resulting in minimal textures with simple effects.
