Levi’s is sticking true to its heritage, and will be launching a new line of women’s denim called Lot 700. The collection takes inspiration from the three-digit nomenclature usually used in their men’s styles, as well as the original line of Levi’s women’s denim, Lot 701. Lot 701 came on the scene back in 1934, and were the very first jeans designed for women.

Levi's to offer new selection of jeans with 701 series

With the lot series for men being so famous, Levi’s thought that it was only time that they did something to breathe life back into the lot series for women. All the jeans will be organized by leg shape. This includes the 710 super skinny, the 711 skinny, the 721 high-rise skinny, the 712 slim, the 714 straight, and the 715 boot cut. All the jeans will be offered in an array of washes and colors as well, so, there is room for plenty of variety in your wardrobe with this line.

The line is meant to appeal to women of different body types. Chief Production Officer Karyn Hillman has discussed how they are not for anyone too skinny or too curvy but for that woman who is right in between, which was one of the main purposes behind launching the 700 series. While the idea for launching a new women’s line was in the work the production team was looking at scans of over 60,000 women across the world and found that the 701 series fit most women’s body types.

“We continue to review and evolve all of our fits to make sure they are relevant for the times,” Hillman was quoted saying in Women’s Wear Daily. “We don’t just rest and rely on the old. We have got to make sure that the authenticity hits with what happens today.…That marriage of authenticity with modernity is super important to us. Our eyes shift, innovations happen, and we push forward while keeping true to our authentic roots.”

701 won’t be the only line that Levi’s lovers will have to look forward to, though. The fall collection will also encompass Levi’s Rebel styles, which feature a variety of fits and include liquid shaping technology, relaxed and boyfriend styles, curvy and shaping plus sizes, and fits specifically designed for Asian women. The price for the collections ranges from 60 dollars to 120 dollars, and will be available come July at Levi’s stores, levi.com, and department stores such as Macy’s that carry Levi’s denim.
