When Abercrombie & Fitch went on their hiring spree in June, they were still looking to fill the imperative role of women's designer. Finally, the role has been filled. Kristina Szasz, previously design director for Tommy Hilfiger denim and Karl Lagerfeld, will be stepping into the role of Abercrombie & Fitch women's designer beginning in September.

Szasz has a surfeit of experience, having studied fashion design in Italy. Her first job was as an assistant for Emilio Pucci prior to his death in 1992. Her impressive resume includes stints in several senior positions at Polo Ralph Lauren, Iceberg Jeans, Nike, Levi's, and VF Apparel. At PVH, the company that owns Tommy Hilfiger and has a minority stake in Karl Lagerfeld's namesake label, she worked very closely with Lagerfeld himself.

In addition to hiring Szasz, Abercrombie & Fitch has poached Monica Margerum from Kohl's to be their new head of planning operations for A&F and abercrombie kids. They've also hired Amy Sveda from children's retail company Carter's to be the General Manager for abercombie kids. Stacie Beaver, who has worked for Abercrombie & Fitch for 15 years, has been promoted to General Manager of A&F Women's.

Abercrombie & Fitch saw sales slump 8 percent to 709 million in the first quarter of 2015, and are now looking for ways to breathe new life into their struggling business. With their new team in place, which also includes Aaron Levine, formerly of Club Monaco, as head of men's design, and Katia Kuethe, formerly of Lucky, as creative director of marketing, it looks like they finally have the people in place to make it happen. It's sure to be an exciting next few months for Abercrombie & Fitch as they begin to really turn their company around.
