With Fall/Winter 2015-16 collections now in stores, it's time to look ahead to Fall/Winter 2016-17 to get a jump-start on next season's styles. A directional palette of new shades has now emerged in women's fashion, having been analysed by the colour experts at Trendstop.com. Updating a wide range of products across a number of market sectors, these colours will prove influential not just for F/W16, but also for F/W17 for the late mainstream or more mature customer. Here, FashionUnited readers are presented with three shades taken from a key colour group trend for F/W16; New Utility. This group consists of a collection of earthy uniform colours influenced by military aesthetics, breathing new life into utility-inspired looks for the womenswear wardrobe.

New Utility

Fresh sage green transitions into fall with a dusty, more subdued cast, inspiring a soft mid-way shade in the space between olive and mint. A key Fashion Colour for winter outerwear, military-inspired jackets and coats emerge with textures of luxe satin or technical fabric panels, while beige contrasts enhance the utility feel on suede bags.

Earthy olive green is revisited with a new depth, developing the shade with a distinctly formal resonance. This Core colour introduces a refined feel to androgynous tailoring and chic sportswear alike, with leather skins creating a glossy finish. Deep Olive also works well on acrylic eyewear accessories, set off by brass detailing.

This season, khaki's latest evolution enhances its earthy undertones with a refined fusion of autumnal brown. Textured fabrics are key, with thick woollens and brushed felts expressing a softened warmth in the form of apparel. The Neutral shade further demonstrates its versatile appeal when applied to glossy leather bags.
