New York - This past weekend, Olivier Rousteing, with his "it girl" darlings Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn on his arm at the Billboard Music Awards, made a major announcement that sent the fashion world spinning on its heels. Balmain will be collaborating with H&M adding to the list of the fast-fashion label's designer partners. This mark's the eleventh year for H&M's designer collaboration series.

Their first designer collaboration was in 2004 with Karl Lagerfeld, the legend behind Chanel. Their most previous designer collaboration in November 2014 with Alexander Wang sold out within less than a week. Rousteing's collaboration with H&M will arrive in stores on November 5th, and will include men's and women's clothing, accessories, and shoes.

Given Rousteing's practical celebrity status this could be H&M's most talked about designer collaboration yet. Rousteing has over 1 million followers on Instagram, and is a close personal friend of rapper Kanye West and socialite and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian. According to Rousteing, H&M approached his fashion house, which he considered a major milestone in his career, given that H&M looks to designers with the highest level of status in the fashion industry for their collaborations.

While this might seem like another designer collaboration that will sell out very quickly at H&M, fans of both H&M and Balmain should take heed that this is the second time that H&M will be collaborating with a designer from the newer generation. Rousteing took the reins of Balmain when he was just 25 years old, Wang, who took over the creative reins of Balenciaga, is 31.

Latest H&M designer collaboration revealed

While H&M is constantly plotting their next luxury designer collaboration, they are really helping to make a space for the up and coming generation of designers. This year marks the beginning of the second decade for H&M's designer collaborations, and it's only fitting that they picked one of this generation's most acclaimed designers. As always, there are those among the fashion elite who are always concerned with collaborations cheapening the quality of the designs, but, Rousteing has assured everyone that he will make sure the collection still retains Balmain's luxurious aesthetic.

"I don’t want to lose the craftsmanship, and I don’t want to lose the richness and the glamour of the house. But I also want to talk to the people in the street, to different ages. I kept the glamour and richness, but we twisted it," Rousteing told style.com. "You can find in the collection so many different garments. And I think that’s going to be the beauty of the collection. My collaboration is different from the others. H&M really challenged themselves with craftsmanship, with the high couture level of France, and the results are great." Balmain has been around for almost as long as H&M, with Balmain being founded in 1945 and H&M being founded in 1947, so, it's only fitting that the two fashion companies with their rich histories finally came together for a collaboration.

The hype is already beginning for the collection on social media. Currently, there is a hashtag on twitter trending, #HMBalmaination, as people express their excitement over the collection. Everyone looking to get their hands on the collection should mark their calendars for November 5th and cling to their computers at midnight, because if H&M's previous collaborations serve precedent, Balmain will be sold out by before the workday even begins. There will be quite the excitement when the full look books for the collection are finally revealed, but, until then, H&M and Balmain fans will have to wait patiently until November for what is already poised to be another incredible designer collaboration for H&M.
