London - Louis Vuitton's Nicolas Ghesquière is continuing his architectural journey as the creative director presented the fashion house's Cruise 2019 collection at the Foundation Marght, located at the Saint-Paul-de-Vence on the French Riviera on Monday evening.

Designed by architect Josep Lluis Sert to showcase modern art in all its form, the foundation aim of preserving contemporary creations is closely linked to Ghesquière´s inspiration. Inspired by the work of the numerous painters, sculptors, and artists which are kept within the foundation, Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2019 collection saw Ghesquière new ground in terms of silhouette, colour, and overall styling.

“I’ve known this place for twenty-five years and I love coming here regularly. It has a beautiful family history, a particular story about passionate gallerists who, along with all the artists for whom they were both friends and patrons, invented an extraordinary place for artistic dialogue," said Nicolas Ghesquière in a statement. "You can see in these enduring works all their complicity and artistic flow. It’s an intelligent, beautiful site. A place that has spirit, installations have a special rapport with nature and the seasons.”

The Cruise 2019 collection includes 59 looks, mixing masculine and feminine silhouettes, prints and juxtaposed patterns. Models weaved their way through the maze of large sculptures created by Joan Miró, wearing variations of Botticelli gowns, sequinned jackets paired with silky shorts and feathered tops with mini cocktails. The unconventional combinations, bringing together older, couture styles with 1980s silhouettes created a unique collection.

Louis Vuitton also revealed the launch of a new capsule collection, which sees Nicolas Ghesquière collaborating with Grace Coddington. Writer, illustrator and fashion editore, Coddington is well known for her love of animals and developed a line of accessories reprising her imaginary menagerie for the French fashion house. "My collaboration with Nicolas and his team at Louis Vuitton has been so much fun," said Coddington. "I hope it will be a dream come true for Pumpkin, Blanket and Nicolas’ dog - it certainly is for me. It started with our love for animals, it’s where Nicolas and I really connect beyond fashion.

The exclusive is set to launch in Louis Vuitton stores this October.
