For her resort and spring 2019 collection, designer Rosie Assoulin, who has become a favorite of stars like Tina Fey and Issa Rae, focused her still colorful as usual collection on the idea of the daily aspect of a woman's life, ranging from her day-to-day routines to celebratory moments.
As always, the collection looked like a designer rainbow had come to bless fine fabrics to create red carpet and high fashion worthy garments. Fabrics included feminine twists on the classic French damask weave, reimagined in silk with velvet pile, cotton, poplin, and space dyed yarns. In classic Rosie Assoulin style, color techniques were what made this collection.

Stripes are also still trending, and pinstripes were featured as a recurring theme throughout the collection with original twists like being fabricated on jersey. Men's suit pants interlining was reimagined on the exterior of garments too.
The color palette included bold reds, yellows, blues, and greens pop against muted neutral shades. Hand-painted water color prints were also featured.
Shoes are also becoming a bigger part of Assoulin's business and were an extension of the ready-to-wear pieces. Satin pumps and ballet slides complemented the colors and fabrics in the jackets, gowns and dresses.
As Assoulin works on growing other categories of her business, she has teamed up with artist Melissa Vogely Woods for her jewelry, creating pieces handmade with clay. Scagliola technique was used to create marbling effects.
As the brand grows, Assoulin continues to be classically Rosie Assoulin, and there is no better secret to success than knowing your own brand DNA.photos: courtesy of KCD Worldwide
