Versus Versace has named Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello as it's new creative director, following his highly successful capsule collection for the Versace sister label. His appointment is part of the fashion house's scheme to continue developing the brand.

In his new role, Vaccarello will oversee the develop of both Versus women's wear and men's wear collections, reporting directly to Donatella Versace, who is to remain in her role as group artistic director.

"I've followed Anthony's work from his very first collection; as soon as I met him I realised immediately he was the one, he gets it, his talent screams Versus Versace," said Versace. "I love his fresh energy and innovation, and I love being surrounded by a talent which brings newness to Versace."

His debut collection for Versus in his new role is set to will be for Fall 2015, although the new creative director declined to reveal if this would be during Milan Fashion Week or not, reported WWD. Vaccarello stressed that Versus "not follow the calendar,” adding that the collection “will be presented when it will be ready. We haven’t defined yet how, when or where it will be shown. It’s a surprise.”

He claimed that he had "no plans to change the mood” of Versus, and will stay true to the label's Nineties vibe. “Versus is cool, young and easy with an edge,” said Vaccarello to WWD, who is best known for his own overtly sexual designs. “It’s an additional opportunity to express another side of my vision. And it’s fun to work with Donatella.”
