Following the much awaited confirmation of Raf Simons appointment at Calvin Klein, comes the departure of Kevin Carrigan, former Global Creative Director at Calvin Klein. After serving the US fashion company for 18 years, Carrigan has reportedly resigned from his role, in which he was in charge of ck Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein White label.

An internal memo which explained Carrigan’s departure is said to have been sent to Calvin Klein employees on Thursday according to WWD, but company representatives have yet to respond to the news or requests for comments. Cardigan will allegedly remain on board at Calvin Klein in a temporarily capacity to help smooth out the transition.

He first joined the team at Calvin Klein in 1998, after having served at Nicole Farhi and Max Mara in London. Prior to his resignation, he acted as one of five creative directors at Calvin Klein who each oversaw different areas of the company. Francisco Costa, former creative director of Calvin Klein women’s collection, and Italo Zucchelli, former creative director of men’s, were both made redundant this April, while Ulrich Grimm, who is in charge of Calvin Klein men’s and women’s shoes and accessories, and Amy Mellen, who oversees its home division, retain their respective roles for the time being.

Cardigan’s exit comes as the arrival of Belgian designer Simons as the company’s first Chief Creative Officer signals the start of a new global creative strategy. The united, singular creative vision hands over the label’s artistic keys to the former Dior Creative Director and his right hand, Pieter Mulier, who has been named Calvin Klein’s new Creative Director.

In his new role, Mulier will be in charge of carrying out Simons creative and design vision across women’s and men’s ready to wear collection and aligning the US label’s apparel and accessories lines. Muller and Simons are no strangers and have a long history of working together which first began at Jil Sander.
